She worked for The Washington Post nearly a decade and covered Grand Slam Tennis and Grand Slam Football, as well as basketball at multiple Olympics. Nichols joined ESPN at the beginning of 2004. Nichols also reported on golf, baseball, as well as Final Four broadcasts for CBS and TBS. This is only the second nomination in 42 years of this award to a woman out of more than 200 contestants.
