After being inspired initially through the shadows she observed on the grass of the trees and the shadows she saw on the trees, she set out to create a method that did not depict the object in a 2D image. More like the subject has been transformed into the artist's own image which is based its interpretation from the artist. This is especially effective when dealing with living objects or items that are perishable like people or fruits. Alexa's style of painting is ephemeral and only the images of her work are preserved. Trompe-l'oeil art is created by combining the two techniques of photographing and painting. It creates a flattened, two dimensional photograph. Meade often incorporates models painted within the surrounding space. They are able to interact with this world she has created. The result is a blurring of the lines between photography, painting, and installation.
