Niykee keeps writing music despite having been swept up in the current turmoil. She was hand-picked for this year's YouTube Brandcast by Snoop and the rapper was with her on stage. Being a magnet for producers, Niykee has a constant eye on the many beats that are being sent to her. She finds that most beats spark fresh song ideas. In just 5 seconds that I can determine whether a beat is worthy of my time. After that I can get an idea of a complete song within my head, and then I start writing. I get the words when I'm on my deck, playing guitar. Most of the time, it's less than 30 minutes. Niykee continues to develop her skills as a poet and lyrics writer. She explains how the trauma she endured during her childhood is a constant sources of ideas. My experience of pain as a child in my youth and that of losing my sibling is evident in my lyrics even though they're not exactly literal. My music is formed by this and I can see the bigger picture beneath everything. This is one of the aspects that are most significant for me.
